In the museums of Kyrgyzstan, you can get acquainted with the culture and history of the country and the region.

The most of the museums of Kyrgyzstan are located in the capital of the country – Bishkek. Here is the main museum of the country – State History Museum, located on the main square of Bishkek Ala-Too. Very close to the historical center of the city is the museum of Mikhail Frunze, as well as the State Museum of Fine Arts. In addition to these museums, in Bishkek, you can visit the Mineralogy Museum, as well as a small Zoological Museum, where you can get to know the fauna of Kyrgyzstan.
The main museum of Osh is the historical museum, which is located directly in the cave of the sacred mountain Sulaiman-Too. At the foot of the mountain, there is another museum – the Museum of the Great Silk Road, with the exposition about the history of the region and the trade routes running along it. Near to this place, there is a Three-story Yurt Museum, telling about Alymbek Datka and the traditions of the nomad.
Museums of Karakol are also interesting. Here is one of the most interesting museums in the country, the Przhevalsky Museum, which tells about the travels of the great explorer of Asia. The exposition of the museum contains Przhevalsky personal things, stuffed animals, brought to them from travels, letters and much more. There is also a small museum of local lore, which tells about the history of the Issyk-Kul region and Karakol. Not far from Karakol, in the city of Cholpon-Ata, there is an interesting museum of petroglyphs, located directly under the open sky. It retains drawings on stones left by primitive tribes living on the territory of Kyrgyzstan.
