Chychkan Gorge is a long and picturesque gorge in the northern part of the Jalal-Abad Region, through it passes the Bishkek-Osh Road.
Perhaps everyone who traveled from Bishkek to Osh by car remembered this place well. The gorge has forest and it slopes are covered with Tien-Shan Spruce trees, flowers and thickets of mountain berries. Chychkan means “mouse” in Kyrgyz. Such a specific name was given to the gorge due to the abundance of field mice that live in numerous burrows on its slopes. The average height of the gorge is 2200 meters. This is a great place to relax, picnic or take a short walk through the wooded slopes of the mountains.
Such amount of vegetation is impossible without a lot of water. A turbulent river flows along the bottom of the gorge and then it flows into the Toktogul Reservoir. There are also several small lakes in the located in the gorge at an altitude of 3000 meters.
Chychkan is famous for its honey. The gorge is rich in flowers and herbs and therefore the honey here is unusually fragrant and delicious.
